Niels is responsible for developing and implementing the global public affairs strategy in Novo Nordisk, including managing Changing Diabetes® flagship programs and events, public health evidence, insights and policy development and capacity building globally. His department drives the global implementation of Cities Changing Diabetes addressing urbanization, obesity and diabetes in collaboration with academia, thought leaders and municipal champions.
Niels has an MSc in economics from University of Copenhagen and an MBA from The George Washington University in Washington DC. Prior to joining Novo Nordisk in 2007, Niels had an extensive career in international development with assignments for UNICEF, the World Bank and several Danish NGOs.
Before joining Corporate Public Affairs in 2011, Niels worked in Global Marketing, instrumental in developing and implementing market access strategies for pipeline diabetes products. He has been deeply involved in the dialogue with key opinion leaders—with both payers and within the scientific community—in all aspects of Health Technology Assessment.
Niels lives just outside Copenhagen, enjoys running, cooking, wine and the good life. In parallel to his professional life, he has had an extensive “career” in volunteering including past board memberships of the Danish Center for Human Rights, the Danish State Lottery, AFS Intercultural Programs Inc and the Danish Board for International Development Cooperation (Danida).
